Richard C. Ingwersen

Dick Ingwersen is a founding partner of Ingwersen & Taylor, LLP and brings to each client engagement extensive experience in individual tax and financial planning, estate and fiduciary planning, retirement plans, employee compensation and partnership taxation, private investment partnerships and closely-held corporations.

In addition to being an attorney, Mr. Ingwersen is a Certified Public Accountant and Personal Financial Specialist. He is also a founder of Gifford, Hillegass & Ingwersen, LLP (GH&I), a certified public accounting firm. Prior to founding GH&I and Ingwersen & Taylor, Mr. Ingwersen spent seven years in the tax department of Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young). He has been recognized for his professional and community leadership and received a number of awards: 2008 Outstanding Alumnus for Auburn’s School of Accountancy, Leading Edge Alliance “Innovative Firm Leader of the Year” (2003), and GSCPA Public Service Award (1992), and Downtown YMCA “Volunteer of the Year” in three different years. Mr. Ingwersen was a top fundraiser for the YMCA's annual “Partner with Youth Campaign.” In 2009, the Ingwersen family was named Stone Mountain Women’s Club Family of the Year. 

Mr. Ingwersen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA). He is a member of the Estate and Financial Planning Executive Committee for the GSCPA and once served on GSCPA’s board of directors. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (Fiduciary Law Section) and been a member of the Bar since 1973.

Mr. Ingwersen is a member of the fundraising committee for the Auburn University College of Business, a member of the Advisory Council for the university’s School of Accountancy and the agent/representative for his Emory law school class. In the community, he has held notable positions including: chairman of board of directors of the Downtown YMCA, chairman of Woodward Academy fundraisers, and member of Parents Council, Rhodes College, Memphis.

Mr. Ingwersen earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in business administration from Auburn University, where he was a member of the varsity football team and named to the “All S.E.C. Academic Team” for two years. He received his J.D. with a concentration in taxation from Emory University School of Law.
